Lifestyle & Parenting Blog
Every day I am reminded of my good fortune! Without my mom, I would not be able to do all that I do.
If you’ve been reading my blog for a while then you will know that my mom and I don’t always get along. We are two very different people. Where she focuses on the problem, I prefer to look at the solution…so living together has its challenges!
She is however, my right hand. Thanks to her I can work late when I need to, get home and spend 1-2 hours with my son, and not worry about the domestic stuff.
Thanks to her, I have the time to support special needs parents and continue with my advocacy and awareness work. She makes my life manageable.
She appreciates my writing and understands the importance of the volunteer work I do. She understands my son and supports me in my parenting even though our ideas do clash at times…
My mom is amazing! She deserves a medal for putting up with me. I am direct, stubborn and full of nonsense. There are days when my head is overcome with thoughts and on these days I can’t bear to listen to meaningless discussion and chitter chatter.
Yes, I am a bit extreme in some ways, but she gets me. I suppose that’s what mothers do? She just gets me, even though she may not always like me. I know there are days when she would rather run and hide than be in the same room as me…chalk and cheese.
We are two opposites, but the one thing that unites us is our kindness and empathy. We don’t have that mother-daughter bond, and that is okay. I will never be her favourite child. The world in my head is just too different to hers.
She is an amazing mother despite our chalk and cheese personas. She is what parenting is about, being there for your child even if they drive you insane. She personifies what a mother should be; always there, no matter what!
